I am going to go back to my old self that is a bit dark and no nonsense. Deep down I feel that I sold out and that was why I couldn’t write anymore. In my quest to be more structured and secular I lost myself and lost interest so now I am going back to the me that you’ve all come to love….I think. Also, my brother tell me what I’ve always told people……. “change has to come from inside out and not outside in or else you would only sound like a hypocrite.” and that’s what I’ve been trying to do the whole of this year: trying to fix me more and talk less.

Why I am coming back is because this blog gave me a purpose. Made me less useless with myself which I loved and still love. I loved reading and learning a bunch of random stuff and coming over to share my thoughts. That really felt good regardless of whether I had any readers or not. But I also resented the blog because it made me more of a noise maker and I didn’t focus on the the things that I need to in my life. 2010 made me realise that I am stronger and more productive than I thought I could ever be. I’d come back to the blog but it would be more on how I feel than just wanting to put on some people grabbing posts. I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to make a new blog or use the one I already have and I came to the conclusion that I should use the one I already had.

You see, there isn’t anything that is permanent. Our lives is filled with the choices and changes we’ve made over the years and that is what makes it colourful however boring we might think they are. So my blog should reflect that; change, in interests and what not.

So, I say welcome back to my blog and hope 2012 will be the year of obvious growth and an all round wondderful year.

Happy Sunday folks, how was church, home or wherever you spent the early part of the day? Good I guess. Well, I just had an eureka moment. You know that have always talked about how my hair is unrelaxed or natural. Well, I am a kinky haired one at that as in type 4 or 5 whichever they call them these days. My hair has always being “hard” or “super coarse”. I tried from the vinegar to the honey to the deep conditioning to co-washing and nothing worked and might I inform you that even the co-washing didn’t do anything but made my scalp to build up and very itchy. It was so terrible until I stumbled on some info that helped me and think might help those that have the same hair type or issue. Remember this is not for curl or coil definition………this is for soft hair that you could even comb while dry (carefully of course).

Before you start reading, I want you to remove all those ideologies of one hour detangling sessions, deep conditioning, co-washing and the likes from and just come in with an open mind. If it doesn’t work for you then you could go on doing whatever you’ve been doing.

Items you need:

Shampoo (sodium lauryl/laureth sulphate or not)

Oil (olive, castor, amla, vegetable oil etc except palm oil)

Conditioner (I’d recommend Alberto V05 but if there’s any you’ve been using and its been great then fine you could still use it)

Wide toothed comb

Procedure

1. Divide your shampoo in half. Pour a quarter of your oil into the shampoo.
2. Divide your conditioner in half; add water in one half till it’s almost full.
3. Divide your hair in six to eight twists or braids for those with long hair and for those with TWA don’t bother just wash your hair like that.
4. Pour water on your hair and shampoo. Wash your hair to your satisfaction.
5. Rinse your hair.
6. Then add the conditioner that contains water in it and wash your hair with it.
7. Rinse your hair.
8. Continue for the rest of the hair.
9. Pour more water on your hair.
10. Add the other conditioner….the one without water.
11. Comb each section of the hair with your wide toothed comb. No need to sleep there, that is why you sectioned your hair. Just comb it. Forget about the shedding; it’s normal.
12. This time do not rinse out the conditioner.
13. Re-twist or braid your hair and let it dry.

The point of leaving the conditioner in is to soften your hair. You don’t need to moisturize after washing and seal. For daily moisture, I use Shea butter. No need for oils or water based products unless you want your hair to shrink then its fine.

Try it and see, I hope it works for you.

NB: for those that relax their hair, you could try to help you stretch the period between touch ups. Tried it on my cousin and it worked.

nice video huh, even the lyrics to the song seems to be pretty decent. he actually has something to say, something that has a meaning which means that the song speaks to you. DAREY has always been one of those very few african artists that really know what they are in terms of their music.

in case if you are wondering about profiling, don’t worry. we aren’t doing any profiling today. we are just talking about the song but of course profiling would come later.

the lyrics and the meaning of the song seem to be quite similar to that of BRUNO MARS’ JUST THE WAY YOU ARE. funny enough their titles are almost the same, the only difference happen to be the presence and absence of the word JUST. it is also pretty obvious that DAREY or BRUNO MARS could not have copied each other’s theme. it just happened to be a coincidence from the theme to the name downright to the release dates/period.

in my own opinion,i prefer this song more to Bruno’s strictly on the fact that it is more upbeat and fun. the dreamy concept used by Bruno Mars just refused to work for me. it was great with GRENADE but for JUST THE WAY YOU ARE…..hell no.

in the lyrics of this song THE WAY YOU ARE. he puts hints of pidgin english like in the side where he said

just gave the song that Nigerian edge it needed you know. that thing that makes it seem that he is very aware of his roots, if i should say that. this song also showed that you could talk about a very generic topic anytime you want because what really matters is how to talk about it and how you present it which to me is great. this song is so good that i can’t knock it down. this is a great song for dudes to sing or text (for boys that like to thief from songs) to stop fussing about their appearance and put that energy into something else.

on my SKANKMETER, i’d give this song a three and a half over five. i do have my reasons. its a brilliant song but is it evergreen to me…….i am yet to come to terms with that.

about the video…….nice, it did fit the song. the graphics were on point same as the choreography and the models. i didn’t feel anything missing. so on the video i’d say a four over five. beautiful and simple and tasteful.

there’s a south african musician that i’ve being feeling for quite a while even though i haven’t written a thing about him. his name is PROKid or Pro (as he called these days). he raps in a language the Lord in heaven knows i don’t know but his songs from the sounds i hear makes massive sense and in my opinion feel that he is grossly UNDERRATED. he is a wonderful artist and an amazing delight to listen to but the thing i don’t get is the lack of rotation he gets on major music channels.

the very first time i heard him was on Channel O and the song was BHAMPA. that song was the shit as in ti was captivating as hell. i loved it to bits.

in in this song, his delivery was the ish together with the beating and the chorus as in, he seemed like a guy that knew exactly what he was doing when it comes to his music. there was and is a level of understanding and carefulness with how he handles his music. he seemed to be the guy that has more from where this came from and from what i saw, he wasn’t and isn’t bothered by sales or fame; all he wants is for his voice to be heard and that for those that get to hear it, to enjoy it and to feel it and to appreciate it as much as he does. that to me is who i call a musician.

then there was another song i later heard i think like some months after, i didn’t like it at first but i grew to love it, the name was UTHINI NGO PRO.

what made me to love the song was he beat; that beat that keeps reoccurring and the chorus which was sang by kids. the kids kind of made it extra special to me.

i must admit, i don’t have a clue about what he is saying most of the time but i believe like in his words that (words in bold);

“For me rhyming goes beyond choosing a language I feel comfortable with. There are things you can loose when using vernacular yet there are things that sound right when using African languages”.
